You might be wondering why you always have to have 3 meals a day. Is it because you found it being that way or do you just do it. Well today we'll be looking at the why and why nots of this tradition
Question, how many meals, according to you should you consume in a day? Well, according to doctors, it is recommended that we consume 3 meals a day i:e breakfast, lunch and dinner. One might as why not 2 or even 1 meal a day, well today we will be answering your why.
BREAKFAST.
What do you usually do immediately you wake up, after getting dressed for the day or even just in the early hours of the morning? You take breakfast. This is usually the first meal of the day and gives both your body and stomach an indication that it's a new day and we have to start kicking the days ass. That's why it's always advisable to start of your day with a glass of water and some healthy breakfast that incorporates at least a fruit or two.
Also have something abit heavy that way it'll carry you through to lunch hour that way you'll avoid spending money on ten o'clock snacks. Now you understand why breakfast is important, it's basically a pacesetter for your stomach for the entire day.
LUNCH. People consider this a MUST when in actual sense, you can actually skip this part of the day and do just fine. However, if you're a manual laborer or your job involves alot of hard physical activity, feel free to endulge in this meal as often as everyday. A meal mostly consumed between the hours of 12 midday and 2 pm and involves taking food, light or heavy while interacting with workmates or even friends. Doctors however advice that if you had a pretty heavy breakfast then your lunch should be as light as possible thus giving your stomach time to digest your breakfast. I personally prefer having some good fruit salad for lunch or even a smoothie just to have something for the stomach to work on while we kill the day till evening, this works perfectly also for people doing office jobs so as to avoid gaining a lot of unnecessary weight. But if you're job is physically strenious, you can have a heavy lunch meal to cater for the lost energy.
BRUNCH. If you're not a morning person then this is perfect for you. Brunch an acronym that stands for breakfast and lunch is a meal where you combine your breakfast and lunch ideas into a meal. I like this kind of a meal when I'm traveling for long distances and don't want to keep on stopping for snacks refill along the way. It often consists of a heavy meal accompanied with a breakfast beverage or a light breakfast meal accompanied by a lunch worthy drink eg fruit juice. Perks of having brunch is that it takes you a minute before you feel hungry thus very suitable to consume before attending functions, that way even if the function is late or noo food is offered, you are at a good place, food wise.
DINNER
Aaaah! Climax of the day where you're happy to be home, take off your shoes, that tight jeans and/or shirt and pour yourself a glass of water or wine. This is the meal that most of us look forward to seeing that we are in control of what we want to eat and have all the time to prepare everything you want as compared to breakfast where we eat what's available or quick to make so as to avoid being late. Now that time is not of the essence, take your time to plan and cook a well balanced meal since everyone in the family is gonna consume this meal.
Doctors tip is to make sure you eat atleast 1-2hrs before your scheduled bed time to avoid sleeping with food in your stomach. One might ask why not? This eliminates the fatigue people feel in the morning which occurs due to the fact that even though you were asleep the whole night you stomach was up trying to digest all the goodies you endulged in and create space for tomorrows breakfast. So, be kind to your stomach and eat waay before going to bed, that way as you sleep, your stomach also sleeps.
In summary, 1: Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, try as much as possible not to skip it and if possible, have a heavy but healthy breakfast 2: Unless it's necessary, lunch is not a must. Just have something light or even some juice and move along with the day, it is more of a want than a need, unless of course you have a physically strenuous job 3:If you opt to go the brunch way, make sure it's well balanced and that all the necessary nutrients are catered for. Look for a complimentary drink to accompany the meal. 4: Dinner is a very crucial meal and involves every member of the family. Make sure it's balanced, ready on time and eaten slowly to ensure proper chewing and give your tummy an easier time during digestion. Soo to answer the long awaited question, NO three meals a day is not a must. Do what works for you while still keeping healthy and minding your finances. If two meals work for you, go ahead and do just that or even if a meal a day works fine for you, key word is you do you That's it for today's discussion hunnies, be sure to leave your comment down below and incase you haven't followed me: INSTAGRAM; https://www.instagram.com/rogzys_kitchen FACEBOOK: https://www.facebook.com/Rogzys-kitchen-582602192104738/?referrer=whatsapp YOUTUBE: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCKDzmP54J4Jp29Yty8Jmy6A
