Hey hunnies, I trust y'all are having/ had a great day at work or home. So for today's lesson, I'll basically be taking you along with a few tips and tricks I've learnt along the way when it comes to grocery shopping and also how to store the said items to maximize on shelf life, avoid food wastage and save money

To start with, lemme pause a question to you guys, how and where do you buy your groceries?

If you live in the rural areas then you're fortunate enough to practice what we call farm to table where you basically have access to fresh fruits and vegetables at the comfort of your home without having to purchase from a second or third party.

For us who live in the urban areas, if you're lucky enough then you have access to a farmers market or popularly known as "soko" where you can purchase the same at a cheaper fee as compared to purchasing in the supermarket

Now some of the Few tips I've learnt are basically;

1: If you use it frequently, purchase in bulk so as to save on cash and take advantage of discounts

2: Purchase fruits that are in season because not only are you assured of the best quality but also the price is slashed due to influx in the market with the said product.

3 For things like coriander, don't wash prior to storage. Wash off the soil from the roots and then store while dipped in a cup filled with water. However, ensure that the water doesn't touch the leaves. Only the roots and stems

4: Store carrots while submerged in water to give them a longer freshness period.

5; Store onions away from direct sunlight to avoid depleting their flavour

6; Don't behead the broccoli from it's stem when storing

7; Never store unripe tomatoes in the fridge. It prevents them from ripening

8; Garlic and ginger should be stored in a cool dry place.

9; If you don't consume that much groceries, then stop shopping in bulk to avoid wastage.

10; Don't wash kales and spinach after shredding as you are washing away the water soluble minerals.

That's it hunnies for today's class, don't forget to implement most if not all that I mentioned above. Until next class..bye guys
