FIVE-SPICE DEEP FRIED CHICKEN

I love fried foods in all forms and shape and thus this baby was a must now that my chicken month is finally here!!


INGREDIENTS. 5 chicken pieces of your choice, skin removed. 1 tablespoon of cumin powder 1 tablespoon of blackpepper 1 tablespoon of Cardamom powder 1 teaspoon of cinnamon A pinch of salt 1 tablespoon of thyme Wheat flour 1 cup of bread crumbs Cooking oil METHOD. 1: In a bowl, add the spices i:e cumin,Cardamom, blackpepper, cinnamon salt and thyme. Mix properly and leave to marinate for one hour. Make sure your chicken is not too thick and is slited at different parts to allow seeping in of the marination. 2: In a separate bowl, add your flour, and some cumin powder and mix. Add water until a thick consistency is achieved, not too thick and yet not too runny. It should be applicable on the chicken. 3: Now one by one add the chicken pieces to the mixture and coat generously to make sure all areas are covered. Shake off the excess to drip off. 4: Sprinkle over some breadcrumbs just to give it that extra crispyness when deepfrying. 5:Heat up your oil in a pan until it is fairly hot. If it is too hot, it will only cook on the outside and be totally raw in the inside. If the oil is cold, your chicken will be soggy. 6: One by one, add you pieces of chicken into the hot oil and don't overcrowd the pan to avoid lowering the temperature of the oil. 7:Deepfry for 8-10 minutes depending on the size of your chicken pieces. 8:Once done, drain off excess oil and place OK a grease proof paper. 9: Serve hot with some of my chunky fries.
